The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported on Thursday that last month, the pit bull was found with third-degree burns over his head, the left side of his body, his left hip, leg and paw, and his scrotum. His eyes were also severely injured.
In August, Zeus’ owner called the Humane Society to report that Zeus had been stolen out of the yard. He was later found in a neighbor’s yard, injured and with burns over his entire body.
Zeus' injuries were so severe, he had to be humanely euthanized.
The St. Louis Police Department is investigating the case.
Mike Perkins, director of the Humane Society of Missouri Animal Cruelty Task Force, believes someone out there knows what happened to Zeus. He said “People who abuse animals are likely to harm animals in the future and are more likely to be violent toward other people, so it’s important to bring the perpetrator to justice as soon as possible.”
Anyone with information on Zeus is asked to contact the Humane Society Animal Cruelty Task Force at 314-647-4400.
