Northern Colorado Crimestoppers is offering a reward, up to $2,000, that leads to missing fifteen year old Longmont teen Mikaela Fryberger being returned to her family.
Mikaela, also known as "Kiki" to her family and friends, left home on June 19th and didn't return. Those who best know her believe she is with a 20 year old male fugitive named Kyle Woods who is now not allowing her to return home. Kyle was reported to be previously involved with Kiki, but has a restraining order against him barring him from having contact with her. Given his lengthy police record and placement on Longmont's "Most Wanted" list, she is considered by police to be an "endangered runaway."
(Update 7-4-11) According to Commander Jeff Satur with the Longmont Police Dept, "Reports are they are still in town. Parents and/or friends should know they are harboring a fugitive if they let him stay at their house. This action could result in criminal charges for anyone helping them..."
Obviously this is very upsetting to Kiki's worried family and friends who need help in locating her. They also believe friends of the two know information about where they are. Mikaela's mom has been posting heart wrenching messages to her daughter in the hopes that she or someone who knows where she is will read them on Facebook. One such message to her daughter told her that "...things will be okay when you get home; you just need to come home. I know you are probably scared, but we will get it all figured out. I miss you so much Mikaela Paige."
Kyle's mom has also reportedly spoken to the media, asking her son to return the missing teen. Because Kyle has violated the restraining order keeping him away from Kiki, unless he returns Kiki to her home...his own mother is apparently in jeopardy of losing her home because it was used as bond in that case.
Kiki, who attends Longmont High School, is still believed to be in Longmont but could have left the area as it has been two weeks since her disappearance. They also could have altered their appearance. Flyers about the missing girl can be found all over Longmont and surrounding areas. The family and police are asking anyone with information to call: 303-651-8501 or 911 if you should spot either of them. Please share this article to help spread the word. The Northern Colorado Crimestoppers also has an anonymous tip line and info can be found below in the links.
If Kyle is holding Kiki against her will as reported, the best scenario would be...to just let her go home safely.
