Revolution's Ryan Guy to represent Guam in AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers

New England Revolution midfielder Ryan Guy will represent Guam in next week’s AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers, which will be played in Myanmar.

A place in the 2014 AFC Challenge Cup in the Maldives is at stake, with the champion winning a berth in the 2015 AFC Asian Cup.

Four teams will participate in the tournament including Chinese Taipei, India and Myanmar, in addition to Guam.

Guy traveled to join Guam following the Revolution’s preseason trip to Tucson, Ariz., and will return ahead of the team’s season opener at Chicago on March 9.

Guy has made six appearances with Guam’s national team since he declared his intent to play for the country last summer. His first three appearances came in Sept. 2012 at the Philippine Peace Cup, while his three most recent appearances came during the East Asian Football Championship in Hong Kong, held Nov. 26 through Dec. 7.

Guam schedule:
Saturday, March 2 vs. Myanmar
Monday, March 4 vs. India
Wednesday, March 6 vs. Chinese Taipei
