Revolution pick Smith, Purdie, Garcia and Roach in MLS Supplemental Draft

January 17,  the New England Revolution selected four players in the MLS Supplemental Draft, adding to college players Kelyn Rowe and Tyler Polak selected in the MLS SuperDraft. The Revolution has had an uneventful off-season, adding only three professional players to the struggling squad.

The Revs had the third pick in each round of the Supplemental Draft and selected four players: Dwayne Smith, Alec Purdie, Kevin Garcia and Michael Roach.

Dawyne Smith (3rd overall)
Smith, from Kingston, Jamaica, scored 46 goals and added 39 assists in 77 games played during his four-year career at Bethel as a forward and a midfielder. Smith, 23, earned 2011 third-team All-America honors in 2011 and Scholar All-America and honorable mention All-America honors in 2010.

Alec Purdie (22nd overall)
Purdie, 23, scored 12 goals and added 10 assists in 63 games during his four seasons as forward/midfielder at Indiana. The Indiana native earned 2011 All-Big Ten honors and started each of the Wildcats’ 22 matches  and scored eight goals in his senior year.

Kevin Garcia (41st overall)
Garcia, 21, recorded six goals and seven assists in his four seasons at Villanova, appearing in all but one of his team’s games. The midfielder/forward/defender made 20 of his 73 career starts in his senior season and tallied a goal and an assist.

Michael Roach (60th overall)
Roach, 23, played three seasons at Saint Louis University after playing one season at Indiana University. He scored 14 goals and seven assists in three seasons, pushing his career totals to 15 goals and eight assists.
