Today, the New England Revolution declared Preston Burpo, Nico Colaluca, Cory Gibbs and Khano Smith eligible to enter the re-entry process via draft on Wednesday, December 8 and 15. The Revolution declined their 2011 contract options and those eligible players may choose to participate or opt out. Burpo broke his leg in a collision with Dane Richards in the spring, and Colaluca was never provided with an opportunity to show his ability. The Revolution have the fourth selection in each round of the re-entry draft.

Burpo, 38, made 11 starts with two shutouts this season before suffering a broken tibia and fibula in his right leg during the run of play on May 29 against New York, ending his season. He came to the Revs in an off-season trade with the Colorado Rapids.
Colaluca, 24, made seven appearances – including one in 2010 – in two seasons with the Revolution.
Gibbs, 30, made a career-high 25 starts this season at both center and left back. This was his first season with the Revolution after coming to New England in an off-season trade from Colorado.
Smith, 29, made 16 appearances, including six starts, while adding one assist this season in his second go-round with the Revolution.
