Saturday night, the New England Revolution beat Chivas USA 1-0 at Gillette Stadium for a crowd of 16,427. In the 56th minute, Lee Nguyen scored the game winner, his team-leading ninth goal of the season and 18th career. Kelyn Rowe and Daigo Kobayashi both assisted on that goal. Row has three assists on the season, 16 career, and Kobayashi has four assists on the season and eight career assists.

"I love playing with (Daigo Kobayashi), we’re on the same wavelength," said Nguyen. "He doesn’t speak much English, but I feel we’ve been playing together for a long time. He’s very smart, very composed and can keep possession in tight spaces so I think that help us out."

New England (9-12-3, 30 pts.) still remain outside the Eastern Conference playoff bracket in the sixth spot and 12th across 19-team MLS. Chivas continue to hunker at the bottom of the Western Conference and 18th overall.

"I thought Daigo (Kobayashi) was excellent," said head coach Jay Heaps. "He brings an excellent calming presence, and it allows Lee (Nguyen) to have an outlet at all times."

The Revolution outshot Chivas nine to six and goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth made four saves and recorded his sixth clean sheet of the season.

New signing Tony Taylor made his MLS debut, replacing forward Charlie Davies in the 81st minute.
