Revisitng Santana performing at pregame for ‘Super Bowl XXXVII’ (Photos)

During Super Bowl XXXVII (37) pregame show festivities 10 years ago in San Diego at Qualcomm Stadium, Santana performed three songs with two special guests. This was right before kickoff between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Oakland Raiders.

It was known as the “Swashbuckler Super Bowl” because of each team's pirate mascots. The show was dubbed "Santana and Friends" with Carlos Santana and his band joined by Beyoncé Knowles of Destiny’s Child and Michelle Branch.

Santana performed with Beyonce first in a shortened version of "Oye Como Va." Next was Michelle Branch performing alongside Santana their smash single "The Game of Love" (which would later win them a Grammy). Closing out the nearly 8-minute mini concert was "Foo Foo", a track off Santana’s “Shaman” album released in late 2002.

Interesting to note, 10 years later Beyonce headlined the Super Bowl XLVII halftime show in New Orleans. She was reunited for a brief medley with Destiny’s Child. Santana’s hometown NFL team, the San Francisco 49ers, was in the Super Bowl. It would be the 49ers first visit back since 1995. Unfortunately they lost to the Baltimore Ravens.
