"This Business of Music" may not have all the answers but it comes real close.
"This Business of Music" has become the music industry bible. In it's tenth edition, the writers have updated and added even more information. M. William Krasilovsky, Sidney Shemel, John M. Gross, and Jonathan Feinstein have put together a guide for the novice garage band to the professional artist. Written in legalese and music jargon, it is not the easiest book to read but it is a learning experience needed by anyone interested in producing music. It is not meant to be leisure book. From, legal foreign issues, contracts, royalty payments, copyright law, agent rights, artist rights music organizations such as EMI, BMI, and ASCAP....it covers more and more. This update even covers the new issues of the cyber world such as digital downloads.
So if you want to be in the music business as a writer, recording artist, or management, this is great place to begin your journey.
