To launch the truWALKzero shoe in April, 2012, Rockport hired performance artist Johan Lorbeer to do a mid-air performance in Manhattan. It was showy, full of hype, and made a lot of promises for the new shoe: flexible, adaptable, comfortable, full range-of-motion, moisture-wicking, and lightweight.
After wearing the shoe for three weeks, I found the shoe to be all those things. Plus they look good. This is a wonderful shoe.
The fit and feel
The shoe feels good going on, though it took a few days before I got used to a minimalist shoe without the familiar swaddling, cushion-like feel of some walking shoes. There was no breaking-in time necessary.
The toe box is generous, the heel cup fits well, and there is enough minor support inside that your arch isn't stressed. The soft sides and lack of built-up arch support are problematic for people with flat feet. To solve that, I added lightweight arch insoles which seemed to help keep my foot in position and my body in proper alignment.
