Today this reporter had the pleasure of attending the Hot + Spicy show down at Harourfront Centre in Toronto.

There were at least 20 or so vendors that were letting the public sample their BBQ, Hot, Jerk, and Mustard Sauces using Small Wooden Sticks, Pretzels, Nacho Chips, Crackers and even Ice Cream.

It was a great day for a walk by the water and to take a side trip into one of the many booths and tents that were showing their goods.

Brooks Pepperfire Foods out of Quebec are enjoying their 4th year at the Toronto show had the largest collection of Peppermaster Sauces available that ranged from mild to hot. and they even had a Ghost Pepper Sauce that was $20.00 for a small 45 ml jar, but there was a catch... To sample the Ghost Pepper sauce which is the hottest pepper on the planet you had to read a warning before the vendor would allow you to taste it. The less hot sauces were more reasonable at $15- $20 for a 250 ml bottle. For more information you can contact Tina Brooks tbrooks@peppermaster.com or you can follow her on her twitter account. Peppermaster also has a Blog with recipes.

Another big hit at this show was Hot Mamas Red Pepper Jelly that was served on a cracker along with a hunk of Cream Cheese. A 235 ml jar of this amazing product was $8.00, Hot Mamas had a large number of other flavours also on hand. They are from Georgina Ontario and their tel. # is 1-866-361-2468

Right at the entrance to the main tent was Jake Albert's This is Jake's second year at the show, Last year they went through 3500 samples of their Fuego Rojo Pomegranate Habanero Glaze by pouring a bit of the wonderful sauce over a small scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream and that was the only product they were selling at the time.

Now for year two they have doubled their product line by adding a Fuego Azul which is a Wild Blueberry Habanero Glaze, and on Friday the first day of the 3 day event they had already dispensed almost 2000 samples. Everyone that tried the sauces had a smile on their face. Jake Albert's would be happy to have you follow them on their twitter account

If your reading this on August 14th you still have an opportunity to visit this show on Sunday August 15th, if not the show will be back in 2011.
