Amelia Butterfly has her wings and can fly but she has a horrid time with her landings, not the soft gentle landings you would expect from a butterfly. Her big problem is Despicable Dragonfly has planted seeds of doubt in her mind causing her to fail every time.
The little butterfly has a friend though, Orville Wright Butterfly, who helps her get past the negative thoughts Dragonfly keeps throwing at her by encouraging her with these simple words: " Now you listen to me, Amelia Airheart Butterfly. That thought is not yours, it is a dragon fly lie."
It's sad to say but the problem of bullying, substance abuse in families, and negative self images has put thousands of children, even very young ones, thinking they can't succeed or they are not good enough. "The Adventures of Amelia Airheart Butterfly in bye! bye! Dragonfly!" by Donna Perugini gives children (and adults) the message they can do what they were meant to do as long as they believe and don't listen to the negative, discouraging words of others.
At the end of "The Adventure of Amelia Airheart Butterlfy in bye! bye! Dragonfly!" you will find a page where children can not only document the date they accepted Jesus as Lord but can also include names of other people they have shared the message with.
The Lansing City Guide Examiner, Faith Draper, received a copy of "The Adventure of Amelia Airheart Butterlfy in bye! bye! Dragonfly!" for review and shared it with two of her grandchildren. What better review than from the audience the book is intended for? This is what they had to say:
Andrew (age 8) - "I'm glad Orville was Amelia's friend. Sometimes people need a friend to make them feel better." Andrew's favorite picture was where Orville knocks on Amellia's door and tells her it's time to fly.
Colleen (age 5) - "That wasn't nice of Dragonfly to say those things to the butterfly." Colleen proceeded to sing bye, bye Dragonfly for the next hour.
Grandma - I know at least one of my own grandchildren needed this message greatly and "The Adventures of Amelia Airheart Butterfly in bye! bye! Dragonfly!" gave him not only encouragement to think better of himself but hopefully in the near future to succeed at some tasks he is having difficulty dealing with.
For more information about the author Donna Perugini visit her Web Site, follow her on Facebook or Twitter or visit her Blog. On her web site you can also find some delightful coloring pages that go along with the book.
Other books by Donna Perugini include: "Don't Hug a Grudge", "The Flight of Orville Wright Caterpillar" and "Do Angels Go Camping?". At this time I, Faith Draper, have not found "The Adventure of Amelia Airheart Butterlfy in bye! bye! Dragonfly!" in the Lansing area book stores or libraries but you can request a copy from Barnes and Noble Bookstores and Schuler Books.

Hello, Erica,
Faith gave a great review of the book I wrote. Did you get a chance to watch the video book trailer? It will introduce you to the characters, Amelia and Orville.
If your child likes to color, visit my blog or my website to download free coloring pages of the book's characters.
What irony that I read this today when I just had a big ol' talk with my 3-year-old about the stinky old, "I can'ts' I just want to wipe that phrase from her vocabulary! I'll have to look for this.
By the way, I so love kid points, glad you include them. ( :
Hi, Rebecca!
This is the author, Donna Perugini, of the Amelia Airheart Butterfly book.
I love the age of your daughter. She's very open to stories now and can identify with Amelia and her friend Orville. She'll soon be singing the songs like Faith's granddaughter too!
To find the songs, go to the link to my blog and follow the instructions for Subscribe by Email.
Faith, Another great review of my books! Your grandson didn't figure this one out! I'm glad he even had a favorite illustration. Your granddaughter's voice would be delightful to hear singing, "Bye! bye! Dragonfly!..." Five hours of singing that song is AMAZING!
You even gave me some interesting insight in your review. Thanks for the reviews, Faith!
The Adventures of Amelia Airheart Butterfly sounds like an adorable book. Who knew dragonflies were so mean? Thanks for sharing this great review.
The Adventures of Amelia Airheart Butterfly is a book to add to my shopping list for my two nieces. They're too young for it now, but I've been stocking their library because they're going to be readers!
