Type: Herbal tisane

Form: Bagged tea (unique bags)

Review: Chamomile is a popular ingredient in tisane blends, probably due to its reputation as a calming herb. Unfortunately many chamomile tisanes are, at best, ordinary and at worst, harsh, disagreeable brews.  So when I had the chance to visit the good folks at Chicago-based Ineeka and I was offered a taste of their chamomile tisane, I didn't have high expectations.

Boy did I get a surprise.

I first noticed that "Balance" infused to a remarkably pretty dandelion-yellow, and that the nose was rich, slightly sweet and spicy in character. Then I took a sip.

This stuff tasted of melted butter!

I was completely blown away by how delicious this tisane was. There were no harsh or bitter notes: Just smooth, rich, buttery goodness. Despite trying out several other delicious teas, I kept coming back to "Balance" eventually finishing the whole cup. Ineeka took the time to source a delicious chamomile, and treated it with care: The herb is uncrushed, and this undoubtedly contributed to the flavor of the finished product.

This is a great tisane for sipping in the evenings, and it is fantastic at quelling cravings for fatty foods. Even if you have tried chamomile in the past and didn't care for it, please do give this one a try, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
