Review of Hathi Chiti Books for Kids

A representative for Hathi Chiti Books For Kids contacted me to review two of their books just in time for the holiday season.

Hathi is the Indian word for elephant and Chiti is the Indian word for ant. I recieved two books: In the Indian Night Sky and The Traveller, The Tiger and The Very Clever Jackal by Reshma Sapre.  These are Indian tales for children of the 3 to 7 year old age group.

The books are hardcover and have beautiful eye-catching illustrations to captivate your child's attention.

The Indian Night Sky is a tale about the earth and sky and the stars and heavens and how everything comes together in the world. It plays into a child's imagination and sense of wonder.

The Traveller The Tiger and The Very Clever Jackal is like a folk tale about an old man who seeks adventure in his retirement and finds himself in a precarious situation with a tiger, but finds friendship in an animal more clever than himself.

These books would be a fun holiday gift for families like mine who subscribe to the "something they want, something they need, something to play with and something to read" philosophy. The stories are imaginative and child-friendly and introduce images from Indian culture that are not commonly found in children's literature.
