Darkness, the second book in the Brookhaven Vampire series by Joann I. Martin Sowles was just released in Kindle format on Amazon.com.
Darkness picks up where Laney, the first book ended after the crazy war between brothers, vampires, and werewolves. Without giving too much of the plot away, one would say that this book is definitely a bridge between the first book and the next.
Laney introduced the main character, Laney to the Brookehaven Vampires that included the sexy vampire, Oliver. In this universe vampires were first and then humans came from vampires so some humans still have the lineage in their DNA. The mystery is who does and who doesn't and the results will please the readers.
But, Darkness takes us deeper into that world. The battle is over and Carter, who has vampire lineage has been bitten by a werewolf and this misture has never been seen in this world? Is he in danger? Will he survive? Carter is one of my favorite characters in this book especially the Chicke Suit chapter.
Laney spends most of her time at Julz house in this story. She ventures out some but this is the only thing I felt either could have sped up the story or slowed it down. If you love the romance betwee Laney and Oliver- you will love the drama and make out sessions of this setting.
Personally, the history of the vampires, the question of Laney's family, and the fun night on the town were my favorite parts of the book. I sped through those pages and the author left me wanting more.
Darkness was a great book but it left me wanting more of Laney and Brookehaven Vampires. I can't wait to read book 3 of the series.
