Day 2 (Aug. 2) of Lollapalooza was a little less rock and a little more hip-hop, indie, and electronic music based. Some acts that performed included Outkast, Calvin Harris, Nas, Vic Mensa, Wallpaper., Jenny Lewis, and Krewella.
The hip-hop duo Outkast closed out Day 2 of Lollapalooza 2014 at the Samsung Galaxy stage. The performance began with a red tent on stage which raised up to show André "André 3000" Benjamin and Antwan "Big Boi" Patton behind an American flag screen.
They kicked off their set with "B.O.B." which got the crowd jumping and dancing. Next, André 3000 said the funnest thing of the night. He told the Lollapalooza crowd, "If you don't know us by now, you probably never will. We're not going to talk ya'll to death, but we want to thank you all for riding with us for 20 years. It feels like just yesterday we were 17 years old but I can feel it in my knees and hips."
Some songs performed during the first half Outkast's Lollapalooza 2014 set included "Rosa Parks," "The Way You Move," "Ms. Jackson," and "Kryptonite (I'm on It)". Right before their biggest single "Hey Ya!" André 3000 asked some ladies to come up on stage. He then said, "If you're not wearing any panties you can come up first. You have first dibs."
Around 7 girls came on stage and shook it like a polaroid picture while he performed "Hey Ya!". Some of the crowd departed after that song, which was performed midway through the set. Those that stuck around for the second half of their Lollapalooza set got to see Outkast perform "Hootie Hoo," "Roses," and "The Whole World".
On Saturday, Aug. 2 Nas performed at the Palladia stage. His set began with a giant screen counting the years backwards from 2014 to 1994, which was when his debut studio album "Illmatic" was released. Nas kicked off his Lollapalooza 2014 set with "N.Y. State Of Mind" which is featured on that album. During the song he even changed up the lyrics a couple times and said "Chi Town" instead of "New York".
After the song Nas told the crowd, "20 years ago I put out this album. Some of ya'll were just 1 years-old when this album came out, but damn it feels good to be out here Lollapalooza". Other songs on his setlist included “It Ain’t Hard To Tell," and "The Word is Yours".
On August 1 Australian recording artist Iggy Azalea performed on Perry's stage live at the 2014 Lollapalooza Music Festival. She should not have performed on that stage as it is better suited for DJs. The main platform was not tall enough for fans that were further back to visually see Azalea. There was also no monitors at Perry's stage showing footage of the performance as it is happening live. The stage production consisted of the large screens behind Azalea showing visuals that went along with each song she performed. For example, while performing "Pu$$y" the title of the song scrolled and flashed across the screens in neon pink.
There was some people who knew every word to every song, and then there was some who was patiently waiting to hear "Fancy". She performed "Fancy," her biggest hit to date with four female backup dancers. Some other songs on Iggy Azalea's Lollapalooza 2014 setlist included "Work," "Fuck Love," and her new single "Black Widow". Overall, it was an energetic show but the rapper did end her set at least 10 minutes early.
