Recently on a trip to Kansas City, Missouri we got the chance to visit Legoland Discovery Center. This is a great indoor park for a fun time with the family. It takes about 2-3 hours to go through it at all depending on how long you build with the Legos and is great for a cold day outside. There is also an aquarium right next door.
My advice would be to buy tickets in advance if you plan to go. It can be a bit busy and this guarantees that they have room for your family that day. You can stand in a line for people with tickets and go right on in to the park. As soon as you get in you get to check out an area set up like a Lego factory and see how they are made.
As you enter Legoland, everything is made out of Legos and is very cool. They have several large statues and great places to take your picture. One of the first thing you do inside is get onto a ride. It is just flat along the ground and perfect for kids of all ages. You get to shoot at targets on the wall and it is a lot of fun. My entire family loved this ride! It is called the Quest Laser Ride.
There is one more ride at Legoland Discovery Center. It is called Merlin's Apprentice Ride. You are seat belted into it and if you pedal you go higher into the sky, when you stop pedaling you go back down to the ground.
My girls loved the area that is set up like the Lego Friends. You can sing karaoke and there is also a play area nearby. They have a ton of pits and tables full of Legos to build with including an area to race the cars you make and an earthquake table to see if your creation falls down. They also offer a short 4D movie, but we didn't watch it.
I would highly recommend Legoland Discovery Center in Kansas City for a fun time! It is geared more toward younger children, but even my husband and I had a blast. Make sure you check out their website for hours, prices, and more.
