About an hour and half north of Chicago, in Milwaukee, there are some great gluten-free finds, and one of these includes the trendy East Side café, deli and health food market, Beans & Barely.
I recently had the chance to go up there with friend, and fellow celiac, award-winning tour production manager, Wez Wearing, who is currently in the US on the P.I.L. tour.
Many of their menu items are already gluten-free and if not, they can be easily converted, such as using gluten-free bread for their sandwiches. Their staff is knowledgeable about cross-contamination, and we were put immediately at ease and able to enjoy our meal.
