A raft of resources for the caregiver in fourteen appendices are balanced by personal stories from the author, Shelly Beach, and others who felt they could ‘never do that’ - particularly if the potential situation involved a relative who had been abusive or abrasive.
Through the hope of grace and life-changing power that she and other caregivers experienced, Shelly passionately shows that with God, all things are possible.
I am a caregiver for a reluctant relative and consequently some of the information found resonance with my experience; on the other hand, the author had more help and resources than I’ve been able to locate in the state and county where my guardianship is placed.
Nevertheless, each chapter was brief enough (10-15 pages) to meet the time constraints of my hectic life and is also filled with enough information, anecdotal stories and thought provoking questions to easily make two days of devotions. Meditative scripture that relates to each chapter’s issue was excellently chosen.
Ms. Beach has literally given much of her life that other caregivers could benefit from her grace-filled experience, and there is something here for every one of us.
