One of our favorite Beatle-related movies is "I Wanna Hold Your Hand," the charming tale of a group of Beatle fans who won't let anything stop them in their quest to see the Fabs on "The Ed Sullivan Show." Well, if you liked the bubbly good fun of that film, you'll like Judith Kristen's book "A Date With a Beatle."
The plot centers around a group of female Beatle fans in 1964, one of them named Judy, who plot how to skip school to see the Beatles land at Kennedy Airport without their parents finding out. They later decide to sneak into their hotel to try and see them in person. But Judy has an even bigger idea: She wants to meet George Harrison.
The narrative of the short 171-page book plays like a "chick flick", though guys will find it amusing, too. The descriptive text brings you back to the height of Beatlemania in 1964 and makes the book seem very much like a movie. It's a lot of fun to read.
All that's missing are the screams of the fans in the theater every time a Beatle appears on the screen.

There are enough untold REAL stories like this (I know some people who have actually lived it) without having fiction written about it. Why not find those people and write those stories.
Dennis Mitchell interviewed Judith Kristen on his BWTB show and she said that her "Date With a Beatle" is a true account of what she did to try to meet them. I read the book and it was a fun read but most of it seems contrived so I have a hard time believing she really did those things.
This IS a real story! It's a fun, fast, very real book, and I enjoyed it. I gave a copy to my niece, a George fanatic, for her 12th birthday, and she, and her friends, loved it! Proceeds from the book are being donated to George's Material World Foundation. Judith is a true and devoted Beatle Fan. Give the book a try!
For all of those readers of "A Date with a Beatle" ... I am proud, honored, and thrilled to say it was all a true account of my life back then.
Truth sometimes is stranger than fiction. :)

Annette,
All I can say is, if you knew the author, you'd KNOW this is the real deal!
Truth IS stranger than fiction... some people judge others by what they would do instead of realizing there are "outside the box" people who never fit what is called "normal." So, I understand why some things are hard to grasp.
I met LOTS of girls (during their touring years) who could have written a Beatlemania book. ... with some far more "out there" incidences than I had!
I was nudged into writing this by family and friends who remember me well back then... I realized there are now more 2nd and 3rd generation fans than 1st generation fans... so, I felt the time was right to allow them a glimpse into at least one tenacious fan's life and give them the feel for the Beatles from the other side of the footlights... when I first fell in love with them.
Got something to say?
