Episode 13 Recap

When episode 13 ended, Jack and Amanda had set sail on The Amanda for the honeymoon in Nantucket. Unknown to them, Nate Ryan was on board. Victoria Grayson had killed Helen Crowley to prevent her from having Victoria’s son Daniel killed.

Victoria’s Plan

Victoria called both Daniel and Conrad to the guest house to help deal with Helen’s body. Victoria and Conrad conspired to blame Amanda Clarke for Helen’s death, killing two birds with one stone since Amanda had been a perpetual thorn in their sides. Daniel was not happy about it but could come up with no other way to cover up the murder.

Next Victoria hid Helen’s phone under Amanda’s bed when she stopped by to invite her daughter Charlotte to a party that evening. Late at the party, a man named Trask who had apparently come to check on Helen’s whereabouts, talked to the Graysons. They fed him the story about Amanda being involved in Helen’s disappearance. He went to Amanda’s house and found the planted evidence, sealing Victoria’s story in place.

Ashley learns of the Grayson’s plan to blame Amanda for blackmailing Conrad and warns Emily that Amanda maybe in trouble.

On the Boat

Jack and Amanda are enjoying their first night as man and wife. In the morning, Amanda goes below to make breakfast while Jack gets the ship ready to sail to Nantucket. Below, Amanda runs into Nate Ryan who stowed away on the boat. Jack comes down to check on Amanda and is surprised by Nate holding a gun to Amanda.

Nate confronts the two about the blackmailing of Conrad and Jack is confused. He tells Nate to call Conrad and the misunderstanding can be straightened out but Nate can’t get a cell phone signal. Jack says they need to go closer to shore so Nate locks Jack below and takes Amanda above decks. There Amanda tells Nate her marriage to Jack is a sham designed to keep her in the Hamptons and close to the Graysons. She convinces him that together she and he can take down the Graysons. She has a laptop in Montauk with the blackmail information on it.

Jack overhears everything and looks for the laptop which he finds. He sees the display and stashes the laptop under the mattress. Jack yells to Nate that he wants to talk to Amanda. Once topside, he starts yelling at Amanda for using him. He tells Nate that Amanda brought a laptop on the boat and it is probably below. Nate goes down to look for it. Jack readies the raft for an escape and signals Amanda to play along. The two of them pretend to argue until Nate tells Amanda to some downstairs and get him the laptop. She does.

Emily and Nolan

After learning Amanda is in trouble, Emily gets Nolan to help. They leave in a boat to go after Amanda and Jack. Nolan uses his tracking equipment to find them and then hacks the laptop on The Amanda so they know everyone is currently still alive.

Back on the Boat

On Jack’s signal, she flees and bolts Nate into the bedroom, then locks the hatch access to the cabin. Nate breaks through the door and fires several shots at the locked hatch. One hits Jack in the side. Amanda pushes Jack into the raft and cuts it loose against Jack’s protests. She tells him she loves him and is saving his life. Once Nate gets topside, he clocks Amanda, knocks her unconscious and sends her necklace flying. Jack has drifted too far away for Nate to shoot him again.

Emily and Nolan

Emily and Nolan find Jack and bring him on board. Emily pleads with Nolan to get Jack to a hospital. She takes the raft and goes after Amanda.

Back on the Boat

When Amanda comes to, she is locked below decks while Nate drives the boat. She intentionally breaks something which causes the cabin to start flooding. The boat loses power and Nate comes below. Amanda hits him with an oar and bolts for the stairs. As she reaches the deck, Nate is right behind. Emily is there and hits Nate to save Amanda. Emily and Nate fight and Amanda gets ready to go over the side into the raft. Emily subdues Nate and the girls prepare to leave when Amanda remembers her necklace. Emily yells for her to stop. Nate ignites his cigarette lighter which sets the leaking gas on the boat ablaze. The girls jump from the boat just as it explodes.

Who Dies

Emily surfaces and calls for Amanda. She swims to the raft which has been damaged and is slowly deflating. Amanda calls for Emily and Emily drags her to the raft. She is bleeding profusely. Emily sobs, I am so sorry.” Amanda tells her not to be because without her, Amanda never would have had a real family. Then she makes Emily promise she will look after Jack and Carl. Emily promises and Amanda dies in her arms, leaving Emily sobbing.

Closing

As the show closes, we see Jack in the hospital hooked up to a number of machines. Victoria says “Poor girl. She picked the wrong enemy,” referring to Amanda and not yet knowing she has already made the ultimate sacrifice. Nolan has returned in the boat and is searching for Emily who sends up a flare.

Will Jack survive? Now that Nate is dead, is that the last of the Ryan boys? How will Emily cope with the loss of her dear friend? Tune in next week for another episode of “Revenge.”
