'Revenge' season 4 spoilers: James Tupper made series regular

On June 9 Wetpaint Entertainment posted casting spoilers for the upcoming fourth season of "Revenge," the ABC drama about a young woman trying to get revenge on the people who framed her father. Actor James Tupper, who plays David Clarke on the series in flashbacks, will be joining the cast full time. Over the past few seasons, several characters have been killed and now one of them is coming alive.

Clarke, who was blamed for a major airline terrorist attack by Grayson Global, was dead at the beginning of the series after being killed in prison. He was stabbed by a mysterious man with white hair who Amanda found during season two. David left Amanda a box to guide her revenge against those who wronged him.

Amanda Clarke (Emily VanCamp) who was taken from him as a child, changed her name to Emily Thorne and has been destroying the Grayson family from the inside out since her release from prison. In the season three finale, viewers were shocked to learn that David Clarke was still alive and exacted revenge on Conrad Grayson in the dad of night with a knife.

The fourth season will have to explain how David is still alive and what his life has been like while Emily has taken down the Grayson family. He has yet to reveal himself to his daughter Emily or his former love Victoria Grayson. It's possible he could interact with Charlotte as well and Nolan Ross is the one who gave Amanda the box when she was released.

TVLine revealed on June 9 that show runner Sunil Nayar is setting up the new season to show a David Clarke that viewers have never seen before. He will be a much different man than the one shown in flashbacks and may not be in the revenge game for the same reasons anymore.

With David's return, Emily has a chance to reveal herself as Amanda Clarke, which should help her rekindle her love with Jack Porter who is also aware of her real identity. The twenty-two episode fourth season will begin filming this summer and is expected to premiere in the fall on ABC.
