'Revenge' returns: Is Victoria going to get what she wants?

‘Revenge’ fans can finally get a fix with an all-new episode tomorrow, February 8th.  Golden Globe nominee Madeleine Stowe who plays the wily and wicked Victoria Grayson was on ‘The View’ yesterday, February 6th to talk about her work on the show.  She mentioned that she has a ’pathology to disappear’ and co-host Barbara Walters said:

‘This show ‘Revenge’ is gonna go on for a long time.  You’re not planning to disappear soon…’

Stowe replied:

‘Well, I don’t know that I have a choice.  But I do enjoy doing it.’

As usual, ‘Revenge’ star Gabriel Mann (Nolan Ross) is offering tantalizing twitter teasers like this one, from yesterday, February 6th:

‘the countdown to #perception ep14 is on @revenge we are back and this is what you've been waiting all season to find out. NEW #revenge weds’

We’ll take the bait, Mr. Mann.  What are we going to find out?

The ABC plot synopsis for tomorrow’s ‘Perception’ episode states:

‘In an atmosphere of nervous excitement for Emily & Daniel's upcoming engagement party, things quickly start to unravel: Victoria tries to regain the upper hand by using Conrad's own father against him; Jack finds himself wandering deeper into the fray; the rug gets pulled out from under Charlotte, and even more so for Emily.’

Is Emily (Emily VanCamp) in for a horrible shocker herself?  Will Jack ultimately blame her for Amanda’s disappearance? Or worse yet, is Amanda going to tell Jack the truth about her and Emily’s identities?

And then there’s Victoria, walking around on eggshells that Charlotte is going to learn the truth about her father.  However, if anyone knows how to turn a situation to her advantage it’s the Queen of Grayson Manor.

In episode promo clips  released today by‘ET’, Victoria informs Conrad that his father (played by William Devine) is coming for dinner and demands that he attend and pretend that things are very civil between them in lieu of their separation.

To which Conrad sarcastically replies, ‘Or?’

And she says:

‘Or I can make an apocalyptic showcase of just how ugly things have become and much worse they can get.’

He asks her, ‘What do you want, Victoria?’

She tells Conrad she wants him to return to being  a ‘compassionate father to Charlotte’, to never reveal Charlotte’s true paternity to her and to settle things fairly out of court.’

For now, it looks like Conrad concedes or at least, agrees to be at the dinner party.

But, we all know that things are never easy between the Graysons and appearances aren’t always what they are cracked up to be…

Let’s not forget that Victoria lied to Daniel and branded David Clarke a rapist, with Charlotte as the product and this only added fuel to Emily’s fire.  So, is it possible that in plotting Conrad’s downfall, Victoria has no idea how close she is to going over the ledge herself?

Plus, we’re quickly approaching the episode that will reveal who died on the beach.  Gabriel Mann, for one, is certainly not giving the identity away.  In an interview with Mann that was published today by ‘The Hollywood Reporter’ revealed:

‘Somebody is going down,’ Mann says. ‘Again on Revenge you don’t know if you’ve ever really lost them. But at a certain point, yes, dead is dead is dead.  We were very excited, but there’s some sadness there too, I’m not going to lie.  I think that sets up the possibility that anything could happen and it may be what some people think.  Actually, it’s also going to be what nobody’s thought. Let me be more vague with you. In a vague kind of way, those are my feelings about it. So, make of that what you will.’

Here’s the thing:  Daniel (Josh Bowman) fans will undoubtedly be pushed into a frenzy if it is revealed that Daniel is the one who died on the beach.  But, Daniel’s death could ultimately lead to Victoria’s permanent unraveling. And hence, Stowe's talk about 'not having a choice' could be talking in terms of Victoria's fate...

That said, we know this show.  Every time you think you’ve got it figured it out – twist – boom – shocker!  It sounds like there are plenty more of those in store.  So, the obvious choice for the person who is dead on the beach will most likely be someone who is not the obvious choice.

Kind of sounds like Nolan Ross – I mean, Gabriel Mann’s philosophy, huh?

‘Revenge’ returns tomorrow, February 8th at 10 PM EST on ABC.
