On Feb. 1, “ET” published a preview video clip of “Revenge” episode 2.14 “Sacrifice,” which is slated to air on Feb. 17.
In the clip, Jack (Nick Wechsler) and Amanda (Margarita Levieva) sail away on their honeymoon and Nolan (Gabriel Mann) alerts Emily (Emily VanCamp) that there’s a problem. The newlyweds never checked into the hotel and their cell phones are off the grid. We see images of some sort of fight with an unknown person on the boat and then Jack hears a ticking noise in the cabin below.
Is this a bomb?
Season two started off much like season one, in which we see wreckage from the Amanda and a body floating in the water, then we flash back and experience events that lead up to this tragedy. That same boat wreckage image is repeated in the “ET” preview clip. Is this floating body Jack? If so, is he dead?
Emily’s voice over narration talks about the sacrifice she knew she would have to make in pursuing her revenge – only, she never truly realized what she’d have to give up. We see Jack and Amanda getting married on the beach, with Emily looking wistfully on, remembering a mock wedding they performed as children.
It’s truly sad Emily gave up her childhood love with Jack. They were so close to reuniting until the wheels of revenge ultimately spun them apart once again, after Amanda turned up pregnant with Jack’s baby.
Emily’s love life became confusing after Aiden (Barry Sloane) resurfaced in her life and they reunited only for her to stage a break up to fake a reconciliation with Daniel (Josh Bowman). In all of this deception, will Emily ever truly find love?
If it turns out Jack dies in the boat explosion, will Emily even have the strength to carry on, or will she live out the rest of her life blaming herself for his death?
“Sacrifice” will air on Feb. 17 and before that, Jack and Amanda will marry on Feb. 10 in “Union.” The episode summary for “Union,” according to the Futon Critic states:
“Emotions run deep when Jack and Amanda's wedding reminds Emily of what could have been. Meanwhile, things for Daniel get complicated at Grayson Global, and Conrad begins a new chapter.”
The Futon Critic episode summary for “Sacrifice” states:
“Even with threats on their family closing in, the Graysons are in rare form as they put on a bold showing at their annual Labor Day bash. Jack and Amanda sail off on their honeymoon but the seas prove to be deadly, and this time Emily can't control the outcome.”
The phrase “the seas prove to be deadly” imply someone’s going to die. Is it Jack? Or Amanda? Or someone who may try to rescue them, like Nolan, Declan or Aiden?
How will Emily feel and how will she cope if any of these people die as an innocent casualty to her increasingly dangerous and twisted revenge plot? If Amanda dies, will Emily have to bury her identity forever, or would her death propel her to come forward with the truth?
The bottom line is we don’t want any of our beloved “Revenge” characters to die—especially not Jack, who is so kindhearted and good. We also don’t want Emily to suffer another emotionally traumatic loss. She’s already lost her father. She doesn't deserve to lose someone else she loves.
If one of the evil Ryan brothers happens to take an unexpected plunge, on the other hand, we won’t really feel the need to shed any tears …
We have no choice but to wait two more weeks, as we see the happy couple exchange vows first on Feb. 10 and then race into their honeymoon-turned-horror on Feb. 17.
“Revenge” airs Sundays at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
