Emily: “Of all the weapons we take into battle, there’s none more powerful than the mind. It holds our instincts and our training. It allows us to distinguish friend from foe, love from hate. If that weapon is unsound, it is by no means disarmed. The mind is all the more dangerous when damaged.”

Emily is still suffering through blackouts during this episode. There are clues given at the end of the episode, but they come a tad bit too late. One nice thing during her storyline is that Nolan records Emily right after her vision blurs, so that viewers (and Emily) get a sense of what she is like right after she blacks out. Personally, I was thinking these blackouts would be Amanda Clarke tired of being Emily Thorne, and attempting to live her life without the lies. What it might be, is a mental illness that Emily’s mother had. It is great to mention Emily’s mother, but right now, we need to see the writers flesh out this idea a little more. What are your thoughts on Emily’s blackouts?
Patrick and Victoria’s storyline is not entertaining or exciting in the least. It does not do anything exciting really. The writers never really make it clear as to whether or not Jimmy is the bad guy that Victoria makes him out to be. While it is hard to imagine her lying about what happened to her with him, she is still Victoria Grayson. The writers should have done more to show either that he is not the man Victoria says he is, or that Jimmy is not someone you want to run into. It is almost as if the writers expect that Victoria’s words and those weird two second flashbacks would be enough for the viewers. If you are going to go through and make viewers sit through an episode that is mostly about him, then paint a clear picture of him. Personally, he comes off as slightly suspicious or creepy, but I did not have strong feelings about him other than boredom of the storyline. Did you enjoy this storyline? What do you think about Jimmy?
Here are quick thoughts on elsewhere in the episode. Oh right, Charlotte doesn’t know that Daniel shot Emily. This will be interesting when it comes out. Charlotte and Daniel teaming up definitely has potential, and hopefully it will give Charlotte an interesting storyline. It is hard not to immediately like Stevie Grayson. She is entertaining. However, the twist that she is Jack’s mom is strange and comes out of nowhere. The writers are definitely going to have to do some convincing about this. Right now, there doesn’t seem to be a point in having Stevie be Jack’s mother. Are you a fan of the twist that Stevie is Jack’s mom?
