A nightmare serves as an alarm clock for Conrad. He springs up and is met by the scuffling gaze of Emily Thorne. They exchange pleasantries about Charlotte while Emily plants the breakfast she brought for Conrad on a corner table. Later, Aiden and Victoria detail their mutual disgust for Emily Thorne. He reveals to her that after Daniel proposed to Emily, they were still seeing each other. This information surfaces a smiling grin on the curved cheeks of Victoria’s face. Aiden convinces her that Emily is in fact a cheat and the person who funneled the well of the Grayson finances dry. Daniel’s new boss Chloe wants Nolan to be the cover story of controversy for her magazine. Daniel rapidly rejects her idea but Chloe passions do not fade. Victoria visits Daniel telling him about Emily’s and Aiden’s tryst and that Emily paid for Nolan’s house. He becomes inflated with anger and asks her to leave. Daniel directs his emotions towards Emily. After hurdling many accusations in the conversation, Emily admits to buying the house for her friend. Her only denial is the relationship with Aiden behind Daniel’s back. Emily told Father Paul that if he convinces Conrad to come clean, she won’t lift the veil on his devious past to the world. To help with this effort, Emily visits Conrad again and the conversation turns internal. The pair talks about sins of the past and how they can taint an individual’s future. Conrad is the focal point of the passing passages between the two, but they also mirror Emily. Conrad has made a fortune and a life off destroying others. However, Emily has sins too. She has murdered and schemed. Their sins are mutual. They both have taken the structures of people’s lives and crumbled them to ruins. A viewer can only wonder, as the two rests on adjacent sofas, the weight of guilt on both souls. A spark of this sentiment is revealed when Emily visits Jack. Emily speaks to Jack through struggling eyes and a voice of sadness about her sister and the emotional losses she’s collected. They are interrupted by Chloe who asks to go as Jack’s date to Nolan’s house warming party. At the party, Aiden and Victoria come together and greet Daniel and Emily. Emily and Aiden become verbally combative. The argument is silenced by the final syllable of Emily's declaration, “The Graysons are broke.” The next day Daniel installs a security system in Emily’s house and tells her the precautions are necessary. To Emily’s amazement, Daniel discloses that he shot Aiden. Aiden is across town telling Victoria that the strings on the web of speculation that he believed to have Emily at the center, have been loosened. He tells her Emily didn’t take the Grayson fortune. Victoria tells Aiden to stay. Aiden meets Emily on a beach which reveals that they are in fact working in tandem. Conrad tells Victoria that he’s going to confess for the crimes he committed against Emily’s father. Victoria fiercely commands him to do otherwise. She then slices the frame of his face with the bending edge of her nail. With blood on his face and Victoria’s threats dusting the air, Conrad walks out of the house. Emily later drives up on a car wreck. The shimmering red door of Conrad’s car is suctioned to the cement. The car is inflamed and Father Paul’s body is motionless. From the distant edges of smoke, an image comes forward. One more step into the distilled air of the night and the image becomes clear. It’s Conrad Grayson.
