Revamped lineup of the Faces featuring Ronnie Wood announces 2011 tour dates

Various websites are reporting that the reformed version of the Faces are set to go on tour in Europe again. Ronnie Wood, who was a guitarist for the Faces before he joined the Rolling Stones in the mid-1970s, is expected to be part of the 2011 Faces tour.

The announced tour dates so far are in Germany:

July 16 at the Stuttgart Porsche Arena
July 16 at the Düsseldorf Philipshalle
July 19 at the Berlin Zitadelle Spandau

In 2010, the Faces did a semi-reunion tour with Wood, drummer Kenney Jones and keyboardist Ian McLagan. Rod Stewart, former lead singer of the Faces, declined to be part of the tour, so Simply Red singer Mick Hucknall handled vocal duties for the tour. Former Sex Pistols member Glen Matlock played bass (filling in for the late Ronnie Lane) in the revamped Faces’ 2010 touring lineup.

The official Faces website has not been updated since November 2010, so it does not have any official news about the 2011 tour dates or which band members will be part of the 2011 touring lineup. But with no Rolling Stones tour planned for 2011, Wood would presumably be part of the Faces' touring lineup since he said in interviews that he would continue to perform with the revamped Faces when he can.

The revamped Faces played at the 2010 Goodwood Festival in Chichester, England, and the band is expected to do at least one U.K. festival show on the 2011 tour.

April 12, 2011: The Faces' 2011 tour dates in Germany have been cancelled.
