After a year away from the game, Michael Harrison will be a head football coach again.

Harrison was introduced today as the new head football coach at Hickman County, his alma mater.

"Today, Michael Harrison was named Head Football Coach at Hickman County High School," Hickman County Superintendent Dr. Jerry Nash said. "We had some really great finalists but Coach Harrison really stood out and he takes over the position immediately."

He replaces Tommy Rewis, who resigned to take the Offensive Coordinator job at Kentucky Christian.

Harrison spend the 2013 season out of coaching as he resigned as head coach at Perry County prior to week zero to join the Police Academy in Nashville.

He was injured going through the academy and returned home to Centerville after Christmas to teach Math.

Now Harrison who had success at Perry County will lead the Bulldog program.

He turned the Viking program around in his six seasons as Perry County made three straight Class 1A playoff appearances (2008-2011).

The 2010 team was the most successful in Harrison's tenure in Linden as the Vikings made the Semifinals and posted a school best 11-2 record.

He inherits a Bulldog program that has made three consecutive 3A playoff trips under Rewis and was 8-4 last season.

Currently there are open jobs at Mt. Pleasant, Mt. Juliet Christian, Northeast, Pickett County, Chattanooga Christian, Whitwell, Middle Tennessee Christian, Bolivar, Fairley, Chattanooga Central and Jackson Christian as schools currently looking for a head coach.
