"Rakdos: Wrack and Rage" is one of two new event decks from Wizards of the Coast's latest "Magic: The Gathering" set "Return to Ravnica" ("Golgari: Creep and Conquer" is the other). "Rakdos: Wrack and Rage" is a fast black-red deck that's chock full of aggressive creatures and backed up by burn spells.
Like the "Magic 2013" event decks "Sweet Revenge" and "Repeat Performance," the "Rakdos: Wrack and Rage" event deck features a full deck of 60 cards, along with a 15 card sideboard, spindown life counter, strategy insert, and deck box for an MSRP of $24.99.
"Rakdos: Wrack and Rage" event deck decklist
2 Hellhole Flailer
3 Knight of Infamy
2 Lightning Mauler
4 Rakdos Cackler
4 Rakdos Shred-Freak
3 Rix Maadi Guildmage
2 Stromkirk Noble
Other Spells (14)
2 Brimstone Volley
1 Devil's Play
1 Mizzium Mortars
1 Nightbird's Clutches
4 Pillar of Flame
1 Rakdos Charm
4 Searing Spear
1 Dragonskull Summit
2 Rakdos Guildgate
2 Brimstone Volley
2 Faithless Looting
1 Grafdigger's Cage
2 Ultimate Price
1 Vexing Devil
The sideboard packs removal in the form of Murder and Ultimate Price against decks that run creatures which your burn spells can't kill. Duress will steal board sweepers out of your opponent's hand while Faithless Looting can help you turn extra lands into additional threats in the control match up.
There are several new cards from "Return to Ravnica" that you may want to consider adding to the "Rakdos: Wrack and Rage" event deck.
Dreadbore is an incredible removal spell that absolutely needs to be present here. Rakdos, Lord of Riots is a cheap and powerful creature which you shouldn't have too much of a problem casting. Underworld Connections is another card worth considering, as it can help you gain a godly amount of card advantage.
Revealed today in an article by Monty Ashley on DailyMtg.com, "Rakdos: Wrack and Rage" will go on sale October 26, 2012. It's a fiery hot deck that will leave your opponents in a smoldering flame of ashes, and I'm looking forward to burning some players with it. Will you?
Rating: 3 out of 5. Great, but not packed with as much value compared to the "Golgari: Creep and Conquer" event deck.
