Golgari Growth intro pack
Wizards of the Coast

"Golgari Growth" is one of five new "Return to Ravnica" intro packs. Like the "M13" intro packs ("Mob Rule," "Sole Domination," "Depths of Power," "Path to Victory," and "Wild Rush"), each of the new "Return to Ravnica" intro packs comes with a how to play insert, tip guide, and two unopened "Return to Ravnica" booster packs for an MSRP of $14.99.

The Golgari Swarm knows that the circle of life is a vicious one. The "Golgari Growth" deck puts the power of the scavenge ability in your hands, enabling your fallen creatures to strengthen their successors. Waste not, want not.

If you enjoyed playing with the Golgari Deck from "Duel Decks: Izzet vs Golgari," then you'll have have a blast with "Golgari Growth." The "Golgari Growth" intro pack takes advantage of Scavenge, a new mechanic from "Return to Ravnica" that lets you turn dead creatures in your graveyard into +1/+1 counters.

Creatures with Scavenge like Slitherhead, Drudge Beetle, and Dreg Mangler are powerful in their own right, but can transform the other creatures into abnormally large threats - which can then be sacrificed to Korozda Guildmage for a bonus effect.

As we've come to expect from intro packs, the "Golgari Growth" needs a large bit of tweeking to become more consistent. The included insert suggests adding Jarad Golgari Lich Lord and Lotleth Troll.

Dreadbridge Goliath is another nasty scavenge creature to add to the deck, and you'll also want to hunt down four Abrupt Decay along with a Jarad's Orders or two for use with a few Gravecrawlers.

Because you'll have large creatures, Disciple of Bolas can help you power through your deck and gain a massive amount of life or you could use Underworld Connections to help draw more cards.

The "Golgari Growth" deck is great if you like playing decks that start off slow but slowly build in power as the game progresses.

If the "Golgari Growth" intro pack doesn't fit your play style, then one of the four other "Return to Ravnica" intro packs might:
