RetroN 4 puts consoles of old on one glorious system

Why buy one console when you can own a 4 in 1 all purpose retro gaming rig, complete with cartridge blow dusting tips!

Nintendo and Sega, once on opposing sides in the console manufacturing business, now share the same hardware space thanks to one innovative company. Announced yesterday, comes the RetroN 4 console. A single system built and bred to play games from the Nintendo Entertainment System, Super NES, Sega Genesis and Gameboy Advance.

We have had great success with the SupaBoy and RetroN 3, and we wanted to create an entirely new console that has the modern amenities that will allow users to utilize current technology,” said Steven Mar, Executive Director at Hyperkin on their official blog site. In addition to supporting game cartridges from the NES, SNES, Genesis and now GBA; RetroN 4 is also NTSC and PAL compatible, so keep your import titles. The all-in-1 console will support HDMI output, and like its predecessor, RetroN 3, will ship with one wireless bluetooth controller; and has 6 controller ports total, two for each console. In case you don’t have these anymore, Hyperkin does carry unofficial controllers crafted in their original retro style.

Furthermore, R4 comes with “Perdana” a digital interface where players can tweak button configurations, navigate between each console and access additional features. Hyperkin is slated to reveal full details at this year’s Midwest Gaming classic.

RetroN 3 retails for $69.99, which would place RetroN 4 around the $79.99 range, but don’t quote me on that. Either way, this is one fantastic product for fans of retro gaming. Lord knows there’s plenty of players out there who never made the jump past the SNES era. Well, here’s your one stop shop answer to all your nostalgic needs. Game on.
