Retro fashions of the 1920s and 1930s seem to be an inspiration in this stunning jewel-toned Anna Sui Fall 2014 runway fashion show during Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week Fall 2014, as held at The Theatre at Lincoln Center on February 12, 2014 in New York City.

Anna Sui favors 1920’s flapper style for her Fall 2014 offering, with models sporting cute little bobs for hairstyles, while presenting her romantically feminine designs.

Expect deep jewel tones and peacock plume colors such as teal, turquoise, cobalt and jade, as well as warmer tones of violet, plum, burgundy, rust and deep red, rendered in pretty retro-inspired prints on long flowing hemlines, all topped off with chunky and colorful fur coats and boas. Leopard coat lovers will not be disappointed either!

Outfits are teamed with colorful boots as well as retro chic pumps, some metallic for a bit of glitz. Can’t help but think of artwork from the Art Deco and even Art Nouveau periods when I see these elegant creations from Anna Sui.

And yet there’s a bit of that 1970s hippie chic in the bohemian floral pieces, bell bottoms, colorful knits and the color-blocked knee-length boots. Truly a walk down fashion memory lane…
