This is a complete and categorical retraction of my article of 8/27/13, "Casino Hotel shuns fire fighters battling Rim Fire." The fact of the matter is that I should have checked my sources and their statements more carefully. Had I done so, I would have discovered that Black Oak Casino is, in fact, providing housing for the firefighters and feeding them and going out of its way to provide for their well being and comfort.
I want to apologize profusely to Black Oak Casino, the Miwok Tribe and to the fine people of Tuolumne. I also want to apologize to the firefighters for not checking my sources and their information more stringently and thereby publishing false information about them as a result.
The Miwok Tribe and the Black Oak Casino have always provided excellent service and hospitality to their guests. It was totally irresponsible, wrong and reprehensible of me to believe my sources and to publish their lies without checking on their claims first. Once again, I totally, emphatically and categorically refute all information in the article of 8/27/13 and profusely apologize to all of those who have been adversely affected by the article.
Please accept my most sincere and humble apologies for this unacceptable mistake on my part. I can promise you that for now on I will be extremely careful and cautious and check all of my sources and information before publishing any more articles. I have learned a very profound lesson from all of this. I feel so passionately for the people of Tuolumne and the victims of the fire. I never intened to offend anyone in my article. I most sincerely ask for everyone's forgiveness. Thank you.
