A newly retired couple left the harsh winters behind them (more like escaped) in late January. They had planned their exit for over a year. Their destination was Las Vegas, Nevada.
When they left it was minus 15 degrees back in Chicago and one of them nearly slipped and fell on a patch of ice .
When they landed in Vegas it was 58 and sunny.
They said they knew the last time when the snow and ice left them without power for several days, they would most certainly one day retire and head West.
