Beau and Blazer, a pair of 13-year-old retired wiener racing champs, recently lost their 40-year-old mom to pneumonia. Both are retired from racing and ready to spend their golden years giving love and kisses to their forever people. Southern California Dachshund Rescue is looking for a wonderful home for these boys together.

Blazer has won many times at Old World Village in Huntington Beach. Beau won at Los Alamitos when he was a year old and again at The Big Fresno Fair when he was four.

As dachshund people know, 13 years barely qualifies them for senior status, especially for healthy, active doxies like these guys. They were given a premium diet, plenty of exercise, excellent veterinary care and lots of TLC their entire lives. As a result, they are extrememly healthy, loving and affectionate. They have grown a bit pudgy since their retirement and could stand to lose a few pounds.

Beau and Blazer are very people-focused and love to sit as close to their person as possible. They currently sleep in a large dog bed, but they dream of being allowed to sleep in the big bed with their person.

Friendly and outgoing, Beau and Blazer love meeting new people. They may bark at strangers walking by, but after a brief introduction, their tails are wagging, and they're ready to give kisses.

Although these boys are good with children and adults, they'd like to spend their retirement years in a quiet home. We'd like to place them in an adults-only home or one with older children -- no babies, toddlers or youngsters under 10 years old. Visiting grandchildren would be fine. Ideally Beau and Blazer would live in a home with at least one stay-at-home parent, someone who can take them for short, frequent walks.

Blaze and Beau are fine with other dogs, especially other dachshunds. They are not aggressive toward most cats. They are crate trained and housetrained, and they know how to use the doggie door. Their vaccines are up-to-date, and they are both neutered.

 An adoption application is required.
