Retired officer warns: Obama victory may spark civil war

In an article published Saturday at the Western Center for Journalism, Lawrence Sellin, Ph.D., a retired U.S. Army Reserve colonel who served in Afghanistan and Iraq, warned that civil conflict could erupt if Obama - a man Col. Sellin calls a "criminal" - is victorious in November.

"America is on the verge of fragmentation and civil conflict because its citizens have lost control of their government and lost faith in its political institutions," he wrote.

Noting an August Rasmussen poll that showed only eight percent of voters think that Congress is doing a good job, Col. Sellin says that most agree that politicians of both political parties put themselves and their parties before the country.

"Their aim is to be unconstrained by the Constitution and the rule of law and unaccountable to the American people. Their conduct is driven by political expediency and winning elections for the sole purpose of obtaining power and profit," he added.

"The US has elections," he wrote, "but it no longer has representative government."

He also observed that while the United States has a free press, it is "partisan and dishonest."

"Most Americans agree that the mainstream media represented by ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, and the liberal newspapers are little more than propaganda machines for the Democrat Party and are distorting the news in an attempt to manipulate public opinion to support the reelection of Barack Obama," he explained.

A recent Gallup poll shows that national distrust of the so-called "mainstream media" is at an all-time high.

According to Col. Sellin, most American institutions, including the military, have been tarnished by political corruption.

"Through the blatant careerism of senior officers like the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey, even the American military has been politicized to further the goals of the Obama Administration by submitting to the agenda of radical Islam, attempting to suppress free speech, and undermining public trust in the military by allowing active duty personnel in uniform to engage in partisan politics through their participation in a gay pride parade," he said.

But things are far worse than that, he said.

"They have brought us to the brink of bankruptcy, have opened our borders to illegal immigration, and have permitted a fifth column promoting Sharia law to infiltrate our society and judicial system," he wrote.

Observing that the administration is "expecting reelection and expecting trouble," Col. Sellin said the government has stockpiled almost a billion rounds of hollow-point bullets. The Department of Homeland Security alone has enough ammunition to shoot "three rounds into the body of every living American citizen."

Col. Sellin minced no words when he accused "self-serving politicians" of collaborating with the press "to trigger the fall of the American republic."

"If Obama wins, the American people should be prepared for economic collapse, a full assault on Constitutional rights, societal fragmentation, and civil strife," he added.

According to Col. Sellin, Obama "must be removed from office" if the country is to survive.

Col. Sellin is not the first to say that an Obama victory could spark civil war.

In August, Lubbock County Judge Tom Head warned that civil war could erupt if Obama wins reelection.

"He's going to try to hand over the sovereignty of the United States to the U.N., and what is going to happen when that happens?” he asked.

"I'm thinking the worst," he explained. "Civil unrest, civil disobedience, civil war maybe. And we're not just talking a few riots here and demonstrations, we're talking Lexington, Concord, take up arms and get rid of the guy."

Last September, we reported that a former intelligence officer wondered "if 2008 is the last peaceful American presidential election" he will have witnessed.

"To what lengths will people go to ensure President Obama is reelected?” he asked, citing violent rhetoric by members of the Congressional Black Caucus.

Col. Sellin concluded by saying that representative government will not automatically return if Obama is defeated.

"It will only return when ordinary Americans feel empowered by their political institutions, not oppressed by them," he wrote.
