The CHIP lecture series continues March 6th with a program on“Rethinking Risk: Psychological Perspectives on Biomedical HIV Prevention” by Sarit Golub, Ph.D., Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Hunter, where she directs the Hunter AIDS Research Team (HART). She is also Chair/Area Head of the Basic and Applied Social Psychology doctoral program at the CUNY Gradate Center.

Dr. Golub work applies findings across disciplines (including social psychology, neuropsychology, behavioral economics and decision sciences) to inform new approaches to HIV prevention and care. She currently collaborates with community-based organizations throughout NYC to ensure the translation of study findings into programs and policies for vulnerable populations. Her current research projects include: a) investigating the implementation of HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) programs, policies, and messaging; b) integrating interdisciplinary approaches to risk perception and decision-making; and c) investigating the ways in which internal conflict (e.g. between competing desires, between personal values and perceived social norms) impacts risk behavior.

The lecture will take place in Video Conference Room 204 on the second floor of the Ryan Building at 2006 Hillside Road at the University of Connecticut in Storrs 12:30-1:30pm, and may also be viewed live during or after the lecture at http://www.chip.uconn.edu/lecture-3-6-14. The link will become active shortly before the lecture begins.

Attendees will be provided with lunch provided they RSVP with their selection from the following menu: 1 Kafta Kabab (ground beef with Middle Eastern seasonings, wrapped in pita bread with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and tahini sauce); 2 Chicken Kabab (marinated tenderloins of chicken, wrapped in pita bread with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and lemon garlic spread); or 3 Baba Ghanouj (pureed grilled eggplant with garlic, lemon, and tahini paste, wrapped in pita bread with lettuce and tomatoes).
