CNN reports that Walmart, RadioShack, and Target have all begun selling the new colored iPhone 5C at reduced rates. Walmart is reportedly offering the iPhone 5C, which was originally priced at $99, for $45 with a signed two-year contract through the holiday season. RadioShack plans to give buyers a $50 gift card with the phone until November 2.
Best Buy also offered the iPhone 5C at the discounted price of $50, but that sale ended on October 7.
The iPhone 5C was released in mid September with a contract price of $99. It's the first iPhone Apple has ever released in color. It also marks the first time Apple has ever re-packaged an older model iPhone and offered it at a discounted price.
Reports indicated that retailers are offering the discounted prices on the iPhone 5C in an effort to boost sales since most buyers have their eyes on the new, upgraded iPhone 5S, which has been sold out since its launch.
