ABC's midseason supernatural drama "Resurrection" premiered Sunday, March 9, 2014. The series, which stars Omar Epps ("House M.D.") as Immigration officer J. Martin "Marty" Bellamy, was a ratings hit for the network, outperforming its lead-in, "Once Upon a Time" by a wide margin.
The pilot episode, "The Returned," began when eight-year-old Jacob Langston (played by newcomer Landon Gimenez) was found wandering through a market in China with no idea of how he got there. Immigration officials were called to repatriate him into the United States. Agent Bellamy offered to deliver the boy to his parents only to find that Jacob was declared dead after an accidental drowning thirty two years ago.
DNA tests were requested and young Jacob's parents, Harold and Lucille Garland, played by Frances Fisher ("Touch") and Kurtwood Smith ("Chaos,") struggled to wrap their minds around their son's return. Before the results could be delivered, though, another resident of the town, Arcadia, Missouri, suddenly reappeared very much alive years after his death.
"Resurrection,"which airs Sundays at 9 EST/8 CST, will go head-to-head with the freshman NBC supernatural drama "Believe," which is scheduled to premiere at a special time, March 10, 2014 at 10 EST/9 CST."Believe" focuses on a young heroine, Bo, played by Johnny Sequoyah ("Unicorns") a young woman with supernatural powers who forms a relationship with ex-con Tate, played by Jake McLaughlin ("Crash.") Tate has been charged with protecting Bo from the evil that surrounds her. "Believe" will resume in its normal time slot, Sundays at 9 EST/8 CST on Sunday, March 16, 2014 on NBC.
