Although the mystical nature of its leaders has long been publicized, nobody is expecting Kim Il-Sung to return to life on the 99th anniversary of his birth. But one of his followers might have achieved such a feat.
It was widely reported recently that North Korean politicians Kim Young-Sam and Mun Il-Bong were executed, in response to a train station bombing and the botched currency reform, respectively.
Now the Asia Times seems to have evidence that one or both of these executions might not have taken place, and they are starting to hedge about how speculation gets reported as news over at the Asia Times.
Using the example of Pak Nam-Gi, another high-ranking official presumed executed and recently discovered alive and well managing Kim Jong-Il's finances in Europe, the Asia Times goes on to state that it doesn't really know whether or not Kim Young-Sam and Mun Il-Bong were in fact executed, despite the persistence of rumor among North Korean officials.
Only time will tell, and perhaps not even then.
