Resurrection comes from a simple plea for Mercy

Dead are we who relish carnal pleasures. For sooner or later we are hooked, addicted, and despairingly lost. We are Legion, hidden behind happy faces, and Church places, living as if we were saints of God. Yet, in reality, all we really are, are lost, bewildered, and overwhelmed sheep.

Then the gentle breeze of grace blows bye.

"God also said to Abraham: 'On your part, you and your descendants after you must keep my covenant throughout the ages.'” Genesis 17:3-9

Baptized, catechized, and forgiven of sins numerous times, it's amazing how fast we forget the peace and strength we enjoy when we live the covenant of God in Jesus. So, the billion dollar question is, why do we so easily let go of God's Hand and run to sin?

It is because, without our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we are but little, fallen creatures.

"Look to the LORD in his strength; seek to serve him constantly." Psalm 105:4-9

Whether we shine at work, in the classroom, in the gym, on the dance floor, or wherever we happen to succeed in life, our strengths never fill the empty hole reserved for God. That is why we stumble and fall when we become self-reliant, or when we curse at the sky in our failure.

For we are proud, and arrogant, and our weak bones need God to transcend our darker side.

"Jesus said to them, 'Amen, amen, I say to you, before Abraham came to be, I AM.'” John 8:51-59

In our sins, and our pride, and in the exercising of our God given talents, we often keep 'Jesus' in the periphery, like a fire alarm, ready to be pulled only in an emergency. Being fallen, weak creatures, we only seem to reach for the fire alarm in the midst of a raging furnace!

If only, today, we took Him at His Word, as the great 'I Am,' then we might just live in the completely different fire of His Love.

Then our weakness would be our strength as we witness to God's Saving Power.
