Results from Planet Zero's Super Street Fighter 4 AE 2012 Tournament on 02/02/12

Already one third of the way through the season and the race is tightening up at the top.  Adeel "Four Wude" Soomro continues to lead after his victory last week, but Kevin "Quantic Kensou" Turner and "EX" Jermaine Addo are not far behind.  Marcus "Nytemare Raven" Ramirez has rebounded from a poor showing in the first tournament to stay in the hunt at #4 and kept his chances of a 3-peat alive.  Sean "Madoc" Wagner made a rare appearance last week and nearly took the entire tournament.  With so many talented players, its easy to see the results becoming so erratic.  Earlier today Adam "MLG Clap" Apicella announced some exciting news.  Major League Gaming officially announced that Mortal Kombat 9 would be a part of the upcoming season.  With the game also being in the Evo lineup, MK9 has now become one of the hottest games in America!  Tonight players take their first step towards greatness.

30 players entered SF4 while 17 entered MK.  The big 3 continued to bully their way through the bracket.  But once again it was Madoc's Cammy playing the role of spoiler.  In the semi-finals, it was Madoc coming out on top and getting revenge for last week against Adeel.  On the other side, Quantic Kensou's Ibuki was able to take down EX Jermaine's Adon.  In the losers bracket, Gladiator and Nytemare Raven blasted through to the 5th place matches, but both of their runs ended at the hands of Adeel and Jermaine.  In the Winners Final, Madoc continued his strong run by taking out Kensou in a tight set 2-1.  Jermaine pulled off a well played set against Adeel and actually managed to sweep his Akuma in the 4th place match.  Jermaine kept the momentum and took down Quantic Kensou in the 3rd place fight as well.  This time around, Madoc had the chance to take out all 3 of the top players in one tournament, but Jermaine had other ideas.  Unfortunately, those ideas didn't pan out and Madoc completed an impressive sweep of the top 4 ranked players and definitely will be moving up the chart.  Congratulations to Sean!

Early on for MK9, it was pretty obvious that Adeel was the class of the competition in the bracket.  Most of the others were joining for the excitement of the MLG announcement and trying to rediscover their game.  Adeel pretty much stormed his way through to the Grand Finals.  In the losers bracket, it was Jermaine coming through the gauntlet and getting through Quantic Kensou to meet up against Adeel.  But that was the end of the road as Adeel made short work of the finals and took the first title of the season for MK9!

Last night for UMvC3, it was Stone "KenMastersX" Nguyen storming back after being knocked to the losers bracket by Quantic Kensou.  Jonathan "JoJo" Chantra came back into town from Minnesota and quickly showed why he also made it out of the pools at Evo by cruising through the Winners bracket.  Stone would get his revenge on Kensou and advance to the Grand Finals against JoJo.  While the matchup was highly anticipated, it appeared the layoff affected JoJo's momentum and Stone was on a roll.  Stone took the first set 3-0, and the first game of the second set as well before JoJo finally nabbed a win.  But that would be all he got as Stone swept the last 2 and took home yet another title.  Congratulations to Stone "KenMastersX" Nguyen!
