Eric Hilden at the Center for Career and Life Development at Saddleback College in Southern California recently performed the “2010 Orange County Resume Survey” by surveying over 200 hiring managers and employers on their preferences regarding resumes and cover letters.
This is the same feedback I hear from employers and pass on to my students, so I found it very spot-on. The highlights? Keep your resume cleanly formatted to the last 10 years of related experience, in a Microsoft Word .doc format, and keep your cover letters short and to the point.
