There is a winner in the America’s Vote Competition put on by Maytag® brand and Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA). Ethan Harris has been named the winner of the 2013 Maytag Dependable Leader Awards– America’s Vote competition in recognition of his dedication to helping his Club keep youth on the path to achieving great futures. Harris is a Bryant-area resident. At age 11, Ethan is the youngest person to receive the Maytag Dependable Leader Award. How remarkable is that?

Ethan is an 11-year old boy who works determinedly to do what he can to help the Club. From assisting staff members, to speaking to the Board of Community Directors about his Club, he constantly seeks to pitch in and make improvements. Through the “It Just Takes One Kid’s Campaign,” Ethan raised over $1,000 for his Club through an event he organized on his own. If a child can volunteer, then their example should be one to follow!

This young man certainly displays a servant’s heart. He is completely passionate for giving in the name of others and for philanthropy beyond his years. He is an inspiration to everyone, young and old around him to do more and to strive to be a better person.

America’s Vote is an extension of the Dependable Leader Awards, which recognizes Club professionals and volunteers who are committed to making a difference in the lives of youth by being dependable and exceptional role models. America’s Vote invited people across the U.S. to select the final Maytag Dependable Leader Award winner in 2013 by voting online in November.

Ethan was voted America’s winner and joins 24 other Dependable Leaders across the country also honored this year. He will receive a $20,000 financial grant to help his Club deepen its impact in the community. The grant will help to further extend Ethan’s work with the Boys & Girls Club of Bryant.

It must be incredibly rewarding to see that the work that you are passionate about is paying off; that people appreciate what you are doing for them. It is great that this young man is being recognized for his achievements at such a young age for when rewards are received young, the people that receive them tend to continue with their efforts toward one cause or another!

Congratulations Ethan Harris for a job well done! Keep up the good work with the Boys & Girls Club of Bryant and follow your passion to keep helping others in every other aspect of life as well. The people of America are proud to have you as the 2013 America’s Vote winner!
