Results and commentary for WWE Breaking Point

Chris Jericho and Big Show defeat MVP and Mark Henry. ***

It looks like we’ll get this one more time next month, as MVP and Henry now have matching tights so will team for a while. The match was tag formula with Jericho’s quality pulling the rating up a bit.

Kofi Kingston defeats the Miz. ***

A good sprint, I guess they didn’t want to change the title in a match thrown on the card.

In a giant brawl, Ted Dibiase made Shawn Michaels tap to the Million Dollar Dream, as Legacy defeated DX. *** ½

About as good as Summerslam with a better finish. Good to see Shawn was serious about making new stars, though DX will win this feud in a cell.

Kane defeats the Great Khali in a Singapore Cane match. * ½

It could have been much, much worse. The duel with the canes was, at least, pretty fun.

Christian defeats William Regal with Koslov and Jackson banned from ringside. ** ½

Perfectly acceptable wrestling. I wish Kofi and Miz were left off and this got that time in addition to its own. These two have a great match in them.

Pat Patterson comes out to cut a promo about being the first Intercontinental Champion with the anniversary of the title coming up. Dolph Ziggler mocks Patterson in really boring, 3rd grade manner, then kicks him in the stomach, so John Morrison saves.

This was terrible and went on for far too long.

John Cena defeats Randy Orton to win the World Title. *

They did a big beatdown of Cena early, with Orton ended up handcuffing and torturing Cena, who won’t quit. Cena frees himself, goes nuts, and locks in the STF for the win. That was barely a match with terrible selling, poor acting, and no real story.

CM Punk defeats The Undertaker. ‘Taker had Punk beat with the Hell’s Gate, but it’s an illegal move, so Teddy Long rules the match must go on. Punk locks in the Anaconda Vice right away and the bell rings immediately, without ‘Taker tapping in a rehash of the Montreal Screwjob, since this show is in, you guessed it, Montreal.

Wow, that was terrible. Punk and Undertaker were building a great match with an awesome pace when under 10 minutes in all this nonsense happened.

This Pay Per View may have started a Smackdown storyline and changed the Raw champion, being important for story purposes, but good god was the wrestling a waste of time. Recommendation to avoid.
