Restoring Sacramento salmon could revive Northwest whales and earth witness news mp3

Plans to restore salmon runs on the Sacramento River could help revive killer whale populations 700 miles to the north in Puget Sound.  In an example of the connectedness of ecosystems, scientists from the federal government are working to protect endangered species along the Pacific coast from California to Alaska.  According to Oregon Live, without wild salmon from the Sacramento and American rivers as part of their diets, killer whales might face extinction.  This conclusion by scientists could result in even more severe water restrictions for farmers in the drought-stricken, 400-mile long Central Valley.  The on-going disputes are pitting rival interests squabbling over finite water supplies.
