Restless Heart had the honor of opening the 2013-2014 Performance Series at Stuttgart's beautiful, Grand Prairie Center, Friday, August 16. The chart-topping, award winning country music super group, brought their 30 year anniversary show to the duck capital of the world inside Riceland Auditorium.
Larry Stewart, John Dittrich, Greg Jennings, Paul Gregg and Dave Innis have noteworthy resumes. They have released seven studio albums, plus two greatest hits album and a live album. Restless Heart has put 26 hits on the country chart, six of them climbed to the number 1 position and nine of them were Top 10. They have received Grammy, CMA and ACM nominations and were named ACM's Vocal Group of the Year.
Stewart said they went to bed thinking they were going to Germany(Stuttgart) and woke up in Arkansas.
They opened with "Let The Heartache Ride" and followed with their first number one, "That Rock won't Roll."
A highlight of the night was when Gregg and Innis saluted the troops with a song called "Home." They received a standing ovation for honoring the men and women of the military from Arkansas.
Stewart introduced what he called "snippets" from their favorite country stars. The medley included "Why Not Me," from The Judds, "Liza Jane," from Vince Gill, "Family Tradition," from Hank Williams Jr., "Mercury Blues," from Alan Jackson and "Mountain Music," from Alabama.
Other surprises included a version of "Wipeout" and ZZ Top's "Sharped Dressed Man."
The area near the stage became a dance floor when they played, "I'll Still Be Loving You." Stewart said a couple of years ago it made the List of Top 50 Love Songs of All Time.
The hour and a half show ended when Sewart asked everyone to holler out their home town. "Chances are we've been there," he said as they closed with "Big Dreams In A Small Town."
