Ching met with Don, Brian and Lee, friends since college, who opened this restaurant just a few months ago, but on the verge of closing, these friends called on Ching to see what was wrong and set them on the road to making a profitable restaurant. Each contributed $25,000 to set up the restaurant, and each one does some cooking, although they have little kitchen experience.
When Ching tasted the food, she knew why it was failing. Three of the five dishes she tasted came to her flaming, and this gimmick was a failure. She outright told them the food sucked, and if they did not do a menu makeover, they would be closed by the end of the year.
Ching went into the kitchen and gave these three skeptics a taste of food that was the opposite of what she was served. Lee was the one who gave her the biggest battle, but the other two were not sure either. Ching read the bad reviews to them and gave them the ultimatum; change or else!
When they decided to go all in, Ching sent them out to draw in customers and sent them to a local radio station to announce the reopening. Ching then divided the responsibilities to make the restaurant run better. Don was given the chef’s coat and made the executive chef. Brian was given the front of the house to greet customers and welcome them to this new fine establishment. Lee will be the liaison between the front and back and help out where needed.
Ching prepared delicious dishes that were easy for Don to make with the help of his mother. When they all tried the new dishes, they were very satisfied. When she took them into the madeover restaurant, they were thrilled and grateful.
The grand opening was a rousing success, and the place was packed with happy people who planned to return and bring friends, thanks to Ching and her crew of Restaurant Redemption.
