On last night's episode of "Restaurant: Impossible," Robert Irvine traveled to Madison, Tenn. to the "Dinner Bell Restaurant" just two days away from extinction at the behest of owner Tommy Kirkpatrick.
Robert found the kitchen to be one of the most unsanitary he has ever seen, with contaminated food that could very easily kill an unsuspecting patron. While the kitchen crew was busy cleaning the place from stem to stern, the wait staff and Tommy and wife Allison, emptied the place of all the mismatched furniture and sad decorations.
The crew got a chance to put the blame on the people they worked with. They gave a lemon to those who were hardest to work with and the reason. Of all the crew, Tommy received the most lemons because they felt that he was not a good leader and has given up on his restaurant and therefore, on them. At the end of day one, Robert was in the midst of a transformation from top to bottom.
When Robert met with Tommy and Allison, Tommy was in total denial and demanded that Robert did not get in his face. Robert told him that he called him; and he would be in his face for the next two days, or to send him away. Tommy agreed, but even after Robert tasted the horrible food, he still had his doubts.
He called in a designer who previously worked with him, Krista Watterworth to revamp this tired place with Tom Bury, the expert carpenter, while he whipped the kitchen crew into shape.
After twelve hours of cleaning, the kitchen was in ship shape. Robert went over the pricing of his menu items. Robert showed Tommy how he was losing money on every menu item. He showed the staff how to make items with delicious flavors and freshness that customers will love. After a comparison of Robert's food and Tommy's, he found out why Robert did not like his old food.
The servers got to redeem themselves after Robert accused them of poor quality of service. Robert waited on two customers as the staff watched him do everything he saw them do the day before. When they saw him in action, they realized the error of their ways.
When Tommy and Allison saw the modern restaurant, they could not believe their eyes, and the crowd outside was waiting for a change. As the service proceeded, customers were loving the new food and sparkling new look to a very tired and rundown restaurant all thanks to Robert and his crew of "Restaurant: Impossible."
At the end of each show, Robert tells viewers to check his link to see how the restaurant is doing since his visit. Feel free to add your comments, especially if you have visited the restaurant.
