On Tuesday, Feb. 18, CNN reported that a roof of an auditorium of a South Korean resort collapsed killing at least eight students and seriously wounding 15 more during a freshman welcoming ceremony. A heavy snowfall made rescue operations more difficult and authorities believe there could be as many as 10 more people trapped.
The National Emergency Management Agency revealed that the collapse occurred late Monday and had another 58 students who were treated for minor injuries. Approximately 1,000 students from the Busan University of Foreign Studies were in the auditorium for freshman orientation.
Reports revealed that numerous students were able to get out of the building without assistance.
