There are times in our lives we feel that we need to change. We especially think about this during the Christmas season leading up to New Year's. We feel we need to lose weight, which seems to be the number one resolution for New Year's. Behavior seems to be number two, and we follow that with jobs, location, careers, etc., not necessarily in that order. We like to make these resolutions to better ourselves with the help of no one. We want to make the changes ourselves. That's where we fall. When we fail to meet those resolutions, we get discouraged and never keep up with them. We will wait until next New Year to re-apply those resolutions. We will fail again, then start the whole cycle over again. The changes we seek to put ourselves through are temporary at best. There will be no solid earthly solutions to making our self a better person. There is one solution, a spiritual one, that will help us overcome all the obstacles in our life that we want, or like, to change. That solution is God. Without God we can do nothing. Why? It's simple really. When we try to change ourselves, we forget to ask ourselves why we want to change, and who would it benefit the most, you, or others. If we say others, then we might as well hang up our skates now, before we start. If we say our self, then we need to lay a foundation to build that change on. God is that foundation. He is solid, and He will help us change if we lean on him. All we have to do is ask. Then we can forget and let Him take over, going where He wants us to go, changing what He wants us to change. We have to work at it as well, otherwise God will think we are not serious about changing. It is as simple as that. One thing we need to remember, when we fall, we must get back up and continue. Nothing happens over night, and nothing changes without any bumps in the road. Here is to a very Happy New Year, may God grant you prosperity, peace, and joy throughout the year. Expect changes, expect a challenge, but most of all expect success in this new year. Remember, resolutions are forever, so when you make that resolution, make it stick.
